The near future. Oh what a time. A neatly decorated apartment. Soft rugs, hard wood floors and inviting sofas wash up against an industrial kitchen. A tiny steep staircase leads to a warmly lit bedroom loft. It’s the kind of apartment you see in a movie that is occupied by a guy who’s job could never afford this place and you mumble to yourself...maaaaaaaaan he could never afford this place. Nevertheless this is where we lay our scene. Standing equidistance from each other we see Heidi and Sam. Heidi drinks a glass of wine. Sam shifts his weight nervously.
SAM: So how does this work?
HEIDI: We can just start. Or. Ummm. Wine.
Heidi gestures for Sam to come to the sofa. Sam does so. They sit in silence for a moment. Closer than before. Heidi reaches to touch Sam’s hand. Sam quick pulls it away.
SAM: I’m nervous.
HEIDI: Makes sense.
They sit in silence a wee bit longer. Finally, Sam lays his head on Heidi’s shoulder. They both relax. They are so close their beginning and endings are muddy. It’s like a new kind of ministry.
